How To Use Hydroquinone Cream

How Skin Bleeching Cream Works

Bleaching Creams

Brown spots, melasma, freckles. These are all words to describe areas of the skin that are pigmented due to s un exposure, medications, or genetics. Bleaching products are used to suppress pigmentation in order to lighten hyperpigmented areas. The three best ingredients being used in bleaching creams are Hydroquinone, Kojic acid, and Mandelic Acid.

What is it used for?

Meladerm is generally used to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmented skin on the body or face. Many customers use the product to achieve a uniform skin tone by lightening the appearance of uneven areas and dark spots. The product can also be used to brighten the overall complexion by lightening the appearance of sun damaged skin.

How does hydroquinone work?

Hydroquinone works by decreasing the production and increasing the breakdown of melanosomes (melanin pigment granules) in the skin's pigment cells (melanocytes). It does this by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase, the enzyme needed to make melanin.

Anal Bleaching Cream

Apparently, anal bleaching is the new brazilian waxing. For years, rumors persisted that stars were bleaching their anal areas to look younger....everywhere. Most people, including us, figured it was an urban myth. Then an episode of Doctor 90210 aired where an adult movie starlet came to the doctor's office and exclaimed "I'm here for the anal bleaching." This touched off a search on our part.

Abella Skin Care

Tyrosianse Inhibitors block tyrosinase enzymes from attaching to tyrosine, preventing its conversion into melanin. This unique blend is so effective that only 2% Hydroquinone is needed, minimizing irritation to sensitive skin. It's ten times more effective than Kojic Acid, which only blocks melanin. Combining these ingredients provides the greatest protection against pigmentation.

Should I stop using this cream?
I am Black and I have been using 2% hydroquinone creams for a while to get rid of hyperpigmentation from mosquito bites and other scars. I became frustrated with the slow process and decided to go to a dermatologist. He prescribed a 4% hydroquinone cream and I’ve been using it for over a month now. I have seen improvements of some scars, but other scars have gotten darker. It didn’t bother me much because the 2% that I used would cause my spots to get darker and then peel to reveal lighter more even skin beneath, however, this 4% is making me nervous because some spots are getting darker still and most are not peeling, or are peeling and there’s not difference in skin color. Also, I’ve heard of how hydroquinone can lead to cancer and I ‘ve been using the 2% for years. I know that it’s been banned in some European countries.
I’m becoming increasingly worried that this cream may have damaged my skin by having an opposite effect than what’s supposed to happen, and may cause cancer. I avoid sunlight as much as possible and wear SPF 70 sunblock, so I know the darkening is not coming from sun exposure.
Should I stop using this cream?

How much hydroquinone bleaching cream will I need to order?
    Female 46 fair skin…..been using 70% glycolic peel on face…thought I’d try some hydroquinone 4%….used 2%…no results……or should I go to a tca peel…any ideas.

My mom has TCA done – specifically the obagi blue peel, and then she used those products afterwards……
She was 60 at the time – lemme tell ya, her face looked like a babies butt for a couple of years after that – it still looks good.

How lond will it take for me to get whither/lighter skin?
I’m using a cream that contains 3% Hydroquinone.my skin was already sort of light but i had scars and i wanted them gone.do any of you know how long it takes to see results?ten points to best answer.

  4. Becca says:

How long does the redness from an allergic reaction last?
I developed a redness on my face from a topical cream containing hydroquinone. No itching, just slightly raised red spots on the areas where I put the cream. It has faded a bit, but its been about a week and its definitely not gone. How long will it take? Since I originally used the cream to get rid of hyperpigmentation, im quite upset since it caused my face to look much worse. Is it possible that my face will never go back to the way it was?

    • Jordan W says:

It depends on how long you have applied it to your face. My sister used it and had to go to the doctor. Apparently it thins the skin thus more closely exposing the blood vessels in your face to the elements resulting in mild irritation. She had to use a special face wash and cream that her dermatologist gave her for a few months. I remember that he said that prolonged use of the cream can cause mutation to the skin cells resulting in permanent disfiguration if used in too large a dosage or for too long a period of time.

    Question about Hydroquinone?
A good friend of mine is using this Hydroquinone stuff that’s a bleaching agent i guess..

He’s been using it for about 1 day now and hasn’t seemed to say if it’s working.

It’s 4% and he got it from his dermotologist.
How long does this cream stuff take to start seeing results?
Mature answers only please and no lame jokes.
    Thanks!

    • Your Skin Clinic Madison WI says:

Hydroquinone creams, even prescription strength ones, still take a number of weeks to see results. The medicine works by interrupting the production of the brown pigment melanin in the skin, but it does not remove the existing melanin. The pigmentation that is already present in the skin will slowly fade due to the normal sloughing of dead skin cells as new cells that don’t contain the pigment are produced. The average skin cycle is around 4 weeks, so it will probably take at least that long before a person sees a noticeable improvement in hyperpigmentation, and it may take several skin cycles to see full improvement. Staying out of the sun and using SPF every day will help to make sure that the skin lightens as quickly as possible, and adding exfoliants like AHA’s and/or prescription tretinoin cream can speed up the process.

Can anyone help me with my skin?
So here’s what my skin looks like, at least around my cheeks where it’s the worst:

    http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5270/5630650024_a5c8b0d1f5.jpg

Only some of that is actually pimples if you can tell. The rest is just kind of hyperpigmented skin. How can I get rid of this?

I’ve tried Ambi’s hydroquinone stuff, I’ve used an AHA cream, I’ve tried bio-oil. None of these really seem to be doing anything. My doctor doesn’t seem to concerned and whenever I bring it up he notes it’s getting better and that I have to give it time.

Well it’s not really getting better, that was just a good week and I’ve been using benzamycin and and the skin tone stuff for about 5 months. My skin is about the same as before. It’s not terrible unless you’re up close like that, but it’s still my biggest concern.

I wash my face twice daily, apply Olay’s facial lotion, wait a few minutes, apply my benzamycin, wait about 5-10 minutes and then apply whichever skin evener I’m trying that month. Right now I’m on Walgreen’s AHA cream.

Oh, and don’t even mention Accutane. My mom had a bad reaction so I won’t touch the stuff.

    Hydroquinone/skin lightening/Obagi Nu Derm Results?
My mom told me to useObagi Nu Derm sking lightening cream for discoloration my cheeks b/c of acne. It has 4% hydroquinone in it, she said its going to take 6 to 8 weeks till i see some improvement and it could get worse first before it gets better. Has anyone else used hydroquinone or obagi products? How long till u saw some improvement and results?? Thanks. I need to be clear by 4 weeks for an event, will there be any change?

    • sunnny says:

Your mom is correct, only I used it with Retin A as this is an exfoliator. I did peel like a bad sunburn the first week, no one cared or seemed to notice as I continued to work. It took about a month, as skin turnover is 28 days, Had excellent results at end of six weeks, but had blue peel, 2 layers done, Peel was like a real bad sunburn, I put hydrocortisone lotion from docs office on it for bad itching. It lasted 2 days, by Monday, good as new. I considered if I needed the peel because skin looked so great at 6 wks, but did it anyway for lasting results, they say you can continue using it after the peel, I did for a while, but got tired of doing it 2x daily.

What do you use on your brown spots/marks on face. My face was finally clear but get marks after pimples!?
    Hello!

I’m 19, and I’m rather light brown colored. I have been dealing on and off with marks, finally when my skin starts clearing up I eventually get certain pimples that leave marks behind. I remember going once to the dermatologist and he told me I had cystic acne, and although I don’t have lots of pimples everywhere now I know why they’re painful and hard to leave.

I was very comfortable with myself again, I had a really long time with my skin looking almost 100% clear of marks, until a few weeks ago I had about 3 pimples on both sides of my cheeks, and like I said they’re cystic, I am now left with dark marks again, and to be honest is depressing because when I look in the mirror I can definitely see how this makes me look. These are darker this time.

What can I use? I bought some pure hydroquinone powder and mixed it with a bit of face cream and I’m applying it daily on the spots, think this would help? I know I need a prescription in order to use hydroquinone but I have no money to go to the dermatologist, so I bought the hydroquinone myself and mixed it at home.

I’m trying things out of desperation :( It’s been weeks and the spots seemed to stay the same (started using hydroquinone about 3 night ago).

    What do you do?

    • amie taylor says:

PCA has a product called PCA pigment gel that works wonderful. I wouldn’t recommend using the Hydroquinone as you are. It could actually cause permanent scarring if it’s not used correctly and can be damaging to your health! Another thing that works well is mixing 1/2 tsp lemon juice with 1/2 tsp baking soda. Mix it until it forms a paste and put it on your dark spots for an hour then rinse. You can put some lemon juice on over night as well. Best wishes!

    Palmers Skin Success/ 2percent hydroquionone?
Does any one know if Palmers skin success, evantone fading cream is harmful & can cause cancer? It has 2% hydroquinone. Ok i know this sounds crazy but i have been doing a lot of research to see wat can fade a tattoo. & lots of people have said they used the “walgreens method” & it has helped lighten their tattoo. First they scrub with medicated Apricot scrub. Afterwards they put the Palmers skin success cream onto their arm & wrap plastic wrap over it. Many people have said the method has actaully worked. Here is the link
    http://www.faqs.org/qa/qa-634.html

Is this method harmful in anyway? could i get skin cancer from using the cream. If not how long should i use it for

    • Ari says:

No, I doubt you would get cancer. The only concern I would have is an allergic reaction. So you may want to test the product on your skin first. When I once used a product with hydroquion. I got a rash. Otherwise, you’ll be okay.

Will Hydroquinone affect me in the sun?
    Hi.

Basically, I have some hydroquinone 4% cream and i intend to use it on my forehead where there is a lot of hyperpigmentation and acne scars. I am Indian so my skin is prone to discoloration. I have tested the cream on a patch of slightly dark skin on my arm, it has not reacted violently and it actually getting lighter.

Ive heard that using hydroquinone cream means I cant go out in the sun.

    Does this mean that..

    1) Even if I thoroughly rub the cream in and my skin absorbs it, does it mean I still can’t go out in the sun?

    2) My doctor told me to only use the cream for 2 weeks. After the 2 week period when I stop using it, can I go out in the sun normally?

    3) Using hydroquinone with peroxide has negative side effects apparantly. I currently use a peroxide lotion for my acne. Should I stop using it for the 2 weeks period?

    4) After the 2 week period, could I recontinue using my peroxide lotion for my acne again?

    5) Just how effect will the hydroquinone be after a 2 week period?

Thank you, and please, I would appreciate valid answers

Any one know how to get rid off brown patches on the face without using harmfull chemical like hydroquinone?
I have these brown patches on my face for years. I used Obagi bleaching cream with 4% hydroquinone and gone through some laser treatments, but it didn’t help, and the situation getting worse. the brown patches getting bigger and bigger. At first only some small patches on my cheek, now they’re all over my face. I almost give up and decide to live with it, but I’m giving Yahoo Answer a try to see if anyone out there can help me get rid of it. Any thoughts and suggestion are welcome. Thank you for your help.

    • Meryl says:

Has your doc mentioned Retin A? I’m a white woman with olive skin and I get brown scarring. Retin A seems to help tremendously.
Are your brown blotches from sunlight? If so, staying out of the sun and always using a very nice UVA sunblock (I like Clarions) on your face during the day and Retin A at night should do the trick.
If you haven’t been using docs, but have been using “skin technicians,” leave the amateurs behind and go to the doc.
      Good luck!

    Sun/liver spot removal?
I am 28 yrs old and have fair skin. I have never been one for tanning in my younger years & have never gotten sunburned. Everyday I use SPF 15, I wear a hat when going out & in general I avoid the sun like the plague. At a very young age I have been anti-age obsessed, unline the other girls my age who would tan. So you can imagine my shock when on my left cheek I developed a SUN SPOT! First, I can’t imagine how since as I said I take so many precautions. And 2nd, I want to get rid of it. I went to a dermatologist who confirmed it was a sun spot. She put me on Tretioin 0.25% cream. However, creams like Retin-A, hyrdroquinone tend to scare me.For one, I really don’t want chemicals on my face. Hydroquinone has cancer causing properties and is banned for use in Eurpoe. And Retin-A may actually WORSEN hyperpigmentation on spots and can reoccur once you stop using it.
What I am looking for is a NATURAL way that is effective in PERMANENTLY erasing this spot!!!!!!!!!

    • canary says:

try applying lemon juice to the spot, avoiding the eye area since that would sting. Esoterica cream, a long-marketed product available I believe at Wal-Mart, is also a possibility.

How can I reduce my current eye circles?
Hey peoples I have a slight problem!

Recently my dermatologist prescribed ‘hydroquinone’ for me to apply to reduce my eye bags as I wasn’t sleeping too well; however the cream has given me red rashes around my eyes and therefore I stopped using the product.

Since I’ve started/stopped using the cream I now have dark circles around my entire eyes! not just under my eyes! which can be a problem.

Are these new circles permanent or how can I reduce them?
Do they fade in time? argh!

    Cheers.

    • FREAK says:

I was born with dark circles under my eyes so i know EXACTLY what boat you are on.. like dark circles have been in my life since i can remember.

An effective practice I researched and tried is sleeping with your head elevated, as in sleep on your back with a lot of pillows

I found ice doesn’t really work

      and dark circles are permanent.
I’m almost 16 with dark circles and I actually don’t wear any makeup and people don’t notice them at all (i used to wear coverup to cover them up for school)

Just look up at home remedies, don’t go out and buy expensive eye bag remover cream, they never work.

      Good luckk

    Hypopigmentation from fade cream…?
I have mild hypopigmentation on my face as a result of using skin lighteners.I didn’t use too much and I didn’t even use it for the recommended period of time so I don’t understand how this even happened. I know that in some cases hypopigmentaion can be permanent but it depends on what it’s caused by. I can’t really find any definitive information on the net about this.. Is it permanent when cause by hydroquinone and if not how long does it take to to fade?Anything I can do to help? Thanks.

    • siddis says:

Im having the same problem. I have been using kojic acid on some hyperpigmentation but the surrounding skin has gotten lighter and hypopigmented making my skin patchy. If someone can please answer this. If i get some bloody sun in London then maybe ill try go get a tan!

How to treat an upper lip skin darkening / scar from lip waxing?
I had my upper lip waxed about 1.5 years ago, and a patch above my lip has been dark ever since. My dermatologist seemed to think that if I kept 80 SPF sunscreen on it daily, avoided tanning beds, and used hydroquinone or bleaching cream it would make the scar fade. I have heard of laser treatments but am a student and cannot afford the procedure right now.

None of these things have helped, and I have kept my face shaded from the sun as much as possible because it darkens a great amount whenever exposed to sunlight.

Summer is approaching and I’m afraid that being outside will continue to make it worse since it hasn’t faded yet. I’d also like to be able to get a bit of sun on my face & body without problems, as I am naturally extremely pale but tan easily if I give my skin the chance to do so.

What else can I possibly do to make it fade?
I forgot to mention, I also went off of my birth control pills for about 8 months in the rare chance that it was melasma, and that made no difference in the appearance either.

    • Mao Marxist says:

Hi Omajit. Firstly I want you to know that most of the websites on the internet are rubbish and pure marketing.
Secondly, since the hydroquinone cream didn’t work, obviously your pigmentation goes quite deep, possibly below the epidermis and into the dermis. This would mean that dermabrasion is useless since it only rubs off the uppermost layer of your skin, the stratum corneum.

I always give my patients a choice. There’s no point in forcing them to choose something threy may not like. The first is the use of ablative lasers to correct your skin colour. Hyperpigmentation of your skin is caused by the production of melanin in the area after collagen is sent there to rebuild damaged tissue. It is quite expensive all around the world unfortunately.

The other option is much more accessible. Start yourself on a product with azelaic acid or adapalene. I prefer adapalene because this compound promotes cell turnover so skin renews itself much more quickly. Thus, pigmentation deep down in your skin will go away quicker. Note that this process depends on the natural rejuvenation of your skin as melanin levels gradually decrease over time (months or years we’re talking about).

Is it ok if I use benzoyl peroxide during the day time and at night
    I use my hydroquinone 4%???…

.I don’t want to use them together
because I heard it could have a bad reaction….

Also how long until i see results from my hydroquinone cream??
im using it for red spots left from acne

    • TubTUb says:

Wow 4%! That is pretty high and since BP and hydroquinone are both super irritants you are smart to not use them together. As long as your skin is not reacting badly I would go ahead and use the BP in the morning and hydroquinone at night, as you have said. Just be sure the skin is fresh and cleansed of an remaining BP residue.
I’ve used a lower concentration of hydroquinone and it has taken about 2-3 months. It is a slow process.

I used retin a before (not micro) and i know that it is normal for your skin to get reddish and have patches of red, scaly, peeling skin, but i never got this blistery stuff…

i was told to buy cetaphil moisturizing cream and hydrocortisone 1% ointment for the itiching and burning feeling…but…how long am i going to be like this??? the doctor said in 3 days i should see significant improvment, but i mean i dont wanna go to school like this if you know what i mean??

Um, I have a similar situation. My dermatologist recommended differin for me when I had a small breakout a few years ago. It worked great for 3-4 months. I stopped using it for a month, refilled the prescription, and reused it. I had a MASSIVE breakout. I never got an explination for what couldve triggered it, but all i know is the more i panicked the more i used it. the more i used it, the more my skin was screwed up. I went until 17 without an acne problem, and all the sudden, BAM. It took months to go away. I recommend keeping everything off your face outside of water. Id even watch the soap. Get an appointment with a dermatologist. I know where youve been, and I wouldnt wish it on anyone.

How to bring natural skin tone back? (Used too much fade cream??)?
When I was younger I think I used to much fade creams or used it too long, being ignorant to the fact that the hydroquinone in it is not really good fro your skin, I was trying to even my skin tone & I think it faded some areas too much & now my skin tone is very uneven in certain areas…has anyone else had this happen to them? I’ve DITCHED the fade creams for good now, so how can I bring my natural skin tone back?

    • Mukunda M says:

I had serious different tones. I was using a treatment to get rid of pigmentation and freckles and found it was also evening out my skin tone. The treatment was massaging skin over and over again quite vigorously. In order to do vigorously you have to tighten skin by opening mouth about 1″ and pulling lips firmly back against teeth. Use finger tips and front and sides of fingers(depending on part of face being massaged) with a forward and back action (circular motion will not be effective). The vigorous massage eventually forces a new, clearer and even skin to emerge. Gradually build up to vigorous as skin has to adjust..The more vigorous you can make it the better and quicker the results. Try to work up to a 20 to 30 minute daily massage – can be in more than session – then you will get noticeable results. Persevere and you will get an even skin tone. Use any oil. I had great success with olive oil. No need to remove. Most of it gets absorbed into skin – there is no need to remove. Simply splash with water and dab dry with tissues. Oils are perfect moisturizers so you will not need any other. Treatment also gets rid of ALL blemishes and tightens and firms and is a great anti aging , anti wrinkle treatment. It gives skin a natural healthy glow.

Why do you think it is banned in many asian, african, even european countries? Even U.S. FDA almost banned it, but now it is allowed in concentrations of 2% or less. 2nd of all many of those bleaching products dont give even results, like you’ll have patches of lighter and darker skin, trust me i’ve seen it. Just try using lemon juice and sunscreens, as well as vitamin E moisturizers, like cocoa butter. Your acne may be embarrassing, but its not worth your life!!

How long would it take for pigmentation in my skin to clear?
Im 15 years old, i have pigmentation left on my back from acne. I asked my dermatologist, he said it would take a long time to go away, but didnt tell me exactly how long. About how long will it take for that pigmentation to go away back to my normal skin color without using skin bleaching cream?

now, if i were to use skin bleaching cream, something such as hydroquinone which he plans on prescribing to me, how long do you think itd take for the pigmentation to go away then with using the skin bleaching cream?

I have used the hydroquinone cream on my face for hyperpigmentation (Obagi brand) and it was amazing. I had spots i’d had for years go away in a month. i am now using it to fade a spot where i had a mole removed on my face and it is helping alot. I would say it will take much longer, if ever, for time to fade those spots vs the cream. Get the cream, no question.

    How long will it take…?
My boyfriend’s mom brought me this cream from Colombia for skin discoloration. It’s name is “Pomada Pena” and it contains 3 g. of Hydroquinone for every 100 g. I have an uneven patch of skin on my lower back and I’m wondering how long it will take for the cream to work? I’m also concerned about the risks of using it. How often should I apply it to my skin?
I looked this product up and it is approved, but it doesn’t say anything about how often I should use it.

    • bkdaniels2006 says:

Using the New Zealand Dermatological Society Incorporated’s (DermNet NZ) search results, there is no reference to the brand, “Pomada Pena.” However, Hydroquinone (bleaching cream) is referenced to.

Before you get your hopes up too high, I suggest you consult with a Dermatologist to determine if this discoloration is a result being left on the skin after an underlying skin disease has healed or birth mark, or underlying disease e.g. Addison’s disease.

Nevertheless, the recommend usage is far too extensive to list here. Therefore, I am leaving you with a link to DermNet NZ’s article, Hydroquinone, written by one of DermNet NZ’s staff writer, Vanessa Ngan: http://www.dermnetnz.org/treatments/hydroquinone.html

BTW for anyone who doesn’t know, there is no true SPF higher than 15. They just put that on the package but it’s a hoax. The actual protection doesn’t go any higher.

I asked my doctor about this and she says that cocoa butter is good for the skin but will not get rid of stretch marks.
She said the only way around stretch marks is to use these creams on a regular basis before you get stretch marks. Basically you could use anything that keeps your skin hydrated so that there is more elasticity in the skin, that in turn reduces the risk of getting stretch marks.

How do you treat a burn cause by alpha hydrox skin lightener (hydroquinone 2%)?
My question is regarding the product alpha hydrox skin lightener (hydroquinone 2%). After using this product for two days the result was as advertised but what it didn’t say is that it burns your skin. I used this product on my forehead to treat some dark spots, it did remove them but now I have a red patch on my face just where the dark spots were. Is there a lotion or cream that I can use to treat red/burn patches on face for fast and better results? it seems real deep red spots now. Thank you in advance for all your help.

    • The mom says:

You chemically burned your skin, which is how it works to remove skin discolorations. The way to treat is is actually to let the skin heal itself and not by applying a lot of other things. At this point, the best thing you could do is apply a nice moisturizer, and vitamin e oil is an excellent one. You can buy it as straight oil in small bottles, or you can use the oil in a gel cap. Just poke a hole in the end and squeeze out the oil. That helps hold moisture in the skin while it heals and helps promote healing. Once or twice a day is plenty. Otherwise, don’t put anything else on the skin- no soap, no makeup, no other lotions or such. The darker spots may show up again when the skin heals, or they may stay lighter- it’s hard to say. Skin coloration is from melanin in the cells, and is inserted at lower levels than you can peel off safely as a rule. Unfortunately there are really no good ways to permanently lighten skin, aside from makeup to cover spots. Things that claim to do so are able to temporarily do it because they basically burn and peel off a layer or so of the dead and dull skin on top. In your case, they burned through a little more, and revealed skin that wasn’t quite ready to be exposed just yet. Over the next week or so, that new skin will toughen up and the redness will fade as the skin beneath is healed. Until then I suggest you go easy putting things on it and stay out of the sun as much as you can. The new skin will be more susceptible to sunburn. Next time you want to use a product like this, try it first on another portion of skin, or only a tiny patch on the face, and watch it for 24 hours to see what kind of reaction you get. Some folks have particularly tender skin and it sounds as if this may be part of your problem. It may also be you used a bit more than the makers intended. Honestly, skin lighteners are all harsh on the face, and won’t perform permanent miracles. Your skin tone is what you are genetically predetermined to have, and anything that was strong enough to change that is stronger than you really want to put on yourself anywhere.

How to treat black marks left after mosquito bites or any other insect bites?
I am 17 years old. Each time I get bitten by a mosquito or a flea, it takes almost several weeks for the bite to heal and 2-3 months for the bite mark to lighten, but it leaves black or gray marks. Due to this my whole body is covered with bite marks.
Is there any medications I should use? The doctor prescribed me triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP (0.1%) that didn’t work for the first 7 months, then she gave me gel; Hydroquinone Cream USP (Hyde Cream); Retin A and Calamine lotion which didn’t work, so she totally gave up on me.

Where Are All The Beauty Experts On Here Who Know How To Solve This Problem?
I am a African American female and my skin tone is basically the same color as my avatar.

My problem is I have two brown spots about half the size of a dime that has appeared on each side of my face right below my eyes on the upper part of my cheekbones.

I don’t know when the came on my face. I woke up one morning and they were there, I swear. I was like WTH…lol. They never hurt or itch and are laying flush on my skin.

A lady at one of these beauty places in the mall said it might have happen over a period of time from wearing sunglasses and the bottom of the sunglasses which lay on my face left the marks. I don’t believe that.

I have tried using skin brighteners on the two spots every night but it does not seem to be working that well. Sometimes the spots seem to be getting lighter and then it looks like they go back to getting darker again.

I have also tried various face masks to lighten brown spots. Nada.

This is truly irritating and I don’t know what to do anymore.

I have had these spots almost a year and wear Dermablend to cover them up but I want them to be gone, gone, gone.

Someone give me something new, different or even radical, but safe, to solve my facial problem.

Any suggestions as to what I might use to get rid of these brown spots. Please don’t recommend anything with hydroquinone in it because I am allergic to it or any high price cream because I can’t afford it.

My last resort will be a dermatologist but I only want to do that when I have tried all other home or OTC options mainly because I will be paying out of pocket and I am on a budget.

It prevents future and existing acne, diminishes scars, and lightens skin and blemishes. Fast results too! (It’s been claimed that major results can be seen within a week and no later than two weeks)

Before and After photos are available at the given ebay site.

This person is providing 1-3 week trial samples (Only for ONE DOLLAR.. definitely a deal) on ebay at:

Search up “Cee En’s Acne Solution” on ebay.

First 100 customers can get the item for $1 for one week trial and up to 3 weeks. Or you can purchase 1 month supply for $40, 3 month for $100, or 6 month supply for $150

It’s expensive, but the product DOES work.

My sister and cousin who both have major acne have tried the product and they both give it thumbs up. I have also heard many great feedbacks about this cream.

I don’t have a problem with acne, but it seems to have great results on my sister who has moderate to severe acne. Her acne swelling went away overnight.

check the seller’s feedbacks on the cream

I used a face cream containing 2% hydroquinone to lighten up my acne scars. It took me about 3-4 months to finally start seeing results. Depending on how much hydroquinone is in the specific cream your using the stronger and faster the results will be, but to be safe I would keep it at 2% because anything stronger could really result in severe damage your skin.

This is only true for those with hydroquinone. Anyone with dark skin tones especially African Americans are prone to exogenous ocronosis if they are exposed to hydroquinone for too long.

I don’t know what happened, but I woke up with redness and it grew throughout the day. My doctor said it’s eczema but I highly doubt it. I had a clear face two days ago and now this is how my face looks like!!! At first, it felt like a sun burn. It was quite painful and VERY itchy. I have been struggling with acne, but I would only get one or two pimples here and there every month when I get my period. This month, I didn’t break out at all. I’ve been taking good care of myself, getting more than 8 hrs of sleep every night and eating the right food. I believe a whitening cream has caused this problem. I might have been allergic to hydroquinone, which I also accidentally used with benzoyl peroxide. This “allergy” started as tiny bumps, similar to white heads. Then, it started to produce puss each time I washed my face at night time. I am currently taking antibiotics and applying the cream my doctor prescribed. I’m going to see my dermatologist next week. What can I do to avoid it from getting worse? Has this happened to anyone else? I am falling into deep depression, please help :[

How is Hydroquinone cream supposed to be used? How often can it be used and how long can it be kept on ?

    • Kerry T says:

Hydroquinone is an effective skin bleaching agent. When paired with an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), such as glycolic acid, the fading effect will occur at a faster rate. It can be used up to 2x per day and it’s left on the skin instead of apply then rinse off. Normal usage is for three months with follow up maintenance with just the AHA. If you follow the usage directions you should see results within the first month.

Over the counter products contain a maximum percentage of 2%, whereas a prescription from your doctor is around 8%. The 2% is stilll quite effective, in my opinion.

Some things that can help make it work better:

      1. Hyperpigmented areas tend to become darker at a siginificantly faster rate than the surrounding skin so it’s crucial to take extra steps to avoid excessive sun exposure. Please use a sunscreen in the day to deter the sun from darkening spots. Try a broad spectrum spf 30 or higher, preferrably one of the new photostable formulas that have better UVA protection. And try to protect your face from the sun, even with sunscreen.

      2. After applying a hydroquinone product, avoid applying any other product to your skin for at least 15 minutes. In my experience, this gives the hydroquinone a chance to do it’s work before being diluted with other lotions.

what are some good ways to get rid of acne marks?
i tried some bleaching cream with hydroquinone called “black and white” but it didnt seem to work. ive been using cocoa butter too but im not sure how well that works either

    • Tigrisjasmine says:

I’ve been having the same struggle with my acne marks, but have actually been making GOOD progress, so I’m thrilled to help, because I remember how frustrated I was for soooo long in trying to get rid of them.

I too looked into trying hydroquinone… luckily, I found out why it doesn’t work just in time to keep me from wasting my money. Hydroquinone is a skin bleaching agent, so it works on skin spots caused by extra production of melanin (what gives your skin its color). Acne scars, however, have nothing to do with melanin, but everything to do with the skin not healing itself properly. So all the bleaching in the world will not help them.

You were on the right track with the cocoa butter, since it is supposed to help with stretch marks which, although their cause is different from acne marks, they are in the same category: the skin not healing itself properly. So if cocoa butter actually did work for stretch marks, it would work for acne marks too. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Cocoa butter for stretch marks is just an old wive’s tale. What you really need is something that helps skin restructure itself properly.

There are a few things that do this. On the more expensive end is laser resurfacing. This has been proven to help both stretch marks and acne marks. Still expensive, but not as much, is professional microdermabrasion. Do not do dermabrasion, though – this goes into the deeper layers of skin, and is more risky, and usually causes more irritation and possible scabbing, which is exactly what you don’t need. Microdermabrasion, however, while there will still be some post-irritation, will only make your skin somewhat reddened for a few days, after which you will see good improvements! If you don’t have the money for professional treatments, you can try an in-home kit. There is only one that comes close to professional treatments, however. Most (like Neutrogena’s or L’Oreal’s) use the same crystals as the pros, but do not have any vacuum system. The reason the pros also use a vacuum is to suck up the crystals so they don’t scrape your skin unnecessarily, and also because the suction action helps with deeper pock marks. Crystsalift Resurfacing System uses the crystals and the vacuum, and while the initial price is close to $200, it is cheaper than repeated treatments. Also, it has built-in safetys to prevent you from hurting yourself or using it incorrectly. You shouldn’t use this more than once a week, at the risk of irritating your skin too much!

If this is still too expensive, you can use basic scrubs to help with resurfacing your skin, but remember that this is not as intense, and will therefore take longer. So don’t get discouraged when you don’t see immediate results. Just remember to use regular scrubs, not “in-home microdermabrasion kits” because these crystals (aluminum oxide crystals) are too harsh on your skin without the vacuum system to compensate. St. Ives is a great, VERY cheap option that is just as efficient as any other scrub. When it comes to these, a scrub is a scrub is a scrub… more expensive won’t get you any better results. And don’t scrub aggressively! The scrubbing particles are more than enough to get the job done.

An alternative to physical exfoliants like scrubs is a chemical exfoliant. The best are AHAs (they work on the surface, BHAs work in the pores), but not just any product saying it is has AHAs will work. The pH of the product needs to be between 3 and 4 for it to work. A good option for this is Neutrogena’s Healthy Face Lotion, Night Formula, $12.59/2.5oz. You can use this in conjunction with other moisturizers, including the ones I list below – just put it on first and give it a few minutes to absorb. It contains 8% concentration of AHAs, which is good, because no matter what cosmetic companies say, anything over 10% is too harsh. You could, if your skin is not sensitive, also use it along with a physical scrub, but only use one method per day.

Finally, you have probably heard of lots stretch mark creams, but none of these have been proven effective, except one: Trilastin-SR. The reason this works is because it actually uses a powerful combination of retinol, collagen, and other skin-restructuring ingredients. Oddly enough, while these ingredients are so effective, they are difficult to find in a body cream. Trilastin is expensive ($80/6oz.), but compared to other body creams purported to work or to laser resurfacing, it is quite affordable. Because it works on stretch marks, it can also be effective on other scars, which would include acne marks. It doesn’t promote this on the website, but they do confirm it in the FAQs that come with the product. This is a great product if you have both of these problems, as I do, and it has been great for me. Just remember that stretch marks are tougher to get rid of than acne scars (which is why laser resurfacing works for both, but microdermabrasion only works for ance marks), so you will see results on your acne scars before your stretch marks.

If you only have the acne scars to worry about, any good retinol face cream will help. Dr. Denese New York Hydro Seal Hand & Decollete Serum is one of the best ones out there, and at $35/3oz., is surprisingly affordable! At the drugstore, one of the best options is Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream, Original Formula, $11.99/4oz. Remember these should be used in conjunction with a scrub and/or AHA, or microdermabrasion, (definitely not all three, though!) to see the best results.

One other thing – if you are still struggling with acne and are using benzoyl peroxide, this is just fine. Just know that benzoyl peroxide and retinol cancel each other out, so use one in the morning and one at night. I would suggest using the retinol product at night, since sunlight tends to break it down and make it less effective. Also, if this is the situation, use a BHA instaed of AHA, since it not only gets the surface, but the pores as well. BHA is commonly known as salicylic acid. This too needs to be pH correct, and about the only good drugstore option for this is Neutrogena’s Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Treatment. I use this, and I LOVE the light scent and the soothing gel/liquid texture! Plus, it works!

Remember on top of all this, that since you’re being pretty aggressive with your skin, you should use as gentle of a cleanser as possible! Good luck, and I hope you soon start to experience my joy as you begin to get your beautiful skin back!!

use it Nighly Never on day light or can burn your skin.
also use High spf like 40 everyday to protect your skin
because this type cream makes your skin super sensitive
to the sun thats why is recommend to use at NIGHTs only.

    Does Hydroquinone cream really work?
Is it effective? I heard it shouldn’t be used over long periods of time as it can cause problems, but otherwise it’s safe to use. Is it safe? How much does it typically cost?

Any other info. is appreciated. x

Darker Armpits after at home chemical peel?
Hi i have asian skin, My armpit is a bit dark compared to the rest of my body. so recently i decided to peel it using MAXI PEEL (Tretinoin Hydroquinone), it’s a brand meant for the face and since its ok for the face,I thought it wont be too harmful for my armpit. So i applied it, two days in a row, and i applied A LOT because i needed immediate results. on the second on third day. it started peeling so i peeled it off myself and it was like…You know when a glue dries on your skin and when it dries you can peel it, like as if your peeling out your skin but you couldnt feel anything. that’s how it felt like. so i peeled a lot of skin off and i dint feel anything while peeling it. after 30 minutes, i scrubbed it in the bath and day went fine. It dint take long, my armpits starts to get painful like i was burned!. i think i took off my skin or something. It’s been a week, and it was itching like crazy for the past few days, i have applied creams and lotions to soothe it a bit. NOW my main problem is that My armpit turned darker than ever. especially in the deepest part of my armpit. It was soo read on the first few days but now its like i have a big patch of dark skin and skin is peeling around it. im so sad right now. i don’t know what to do. it’s depressing. please help me. I read about hyperpigmentation, but i read that it heals after 1-2 years with treatment :( im not sure if that’s my case though, but i really hope not :( Will this naturally heal/disappear/lighten? What should i do to take care of it? thank you so much and godbless.

    Retin-A and Hydroquinone together?
I’ve been using Retin-A cream (.05%) for around 8 weeks or so, and I am thinking of trying a Hydroquinone product, such as Obagi Clear, to remove pigmentation, freckles etc…I am seeking the opinions of anyone who actually uses these two products together, (no ‘but freckles are cute!’ comments please) what your routine is, how long you’ve been using them and how long until you saw results etc..

I’m really interested to know which product to use first, if I were to use it twice a day. Currently I use the Retin-A every night, about 30 mins after cleansing, I’ve pretty much gone through the peeling stage etc and don’t seem to need a moisturizer at night any longer, I just use one in the morning with my sunscreen..So would I put the Retin-A or the Hydroquinone on first at night?

Please also no comments about it being a carcinogenic, I am aware of the research etc, and at this stage would appreciate comments and advice from people who have actually used these products.

    Thanks heaps! :-)
