How to Remove Stress From Your Daily Life

Author: Jess Ba-ad

Every day in our lives we are subject to physical, emotional as well as psychological stress. To cope with stressful situations, our body’s response is to release hormones and chemicals to handle these stressful situations efficiently. Unfortunately these chemicals may linger in our bodies even after the stressful events have ceased.

Sources of stress

The moment you wake up in the morning, potential stress events already linger. For example if you’re a mom and you have little kids who will go to school. Doing all those chores so as not to let your child be late for school may be stressful especially when you wake up late.

Anger which may be difficult to avoid when your work requires frequent interaction with people can also trigger stress response from your body. Driving your car, meeting deadlines, being shouted by your boss, and many other daily activities can release stress related chemicals in our body.

What happens when we are stressed?

When stressful situations occur, our body can shift to a ‘fight or flight’ mode. This activates the adrenal glands to release hormones such as cortisol and epinephrine(adrenaline). The release of these hormones makes us more alert by pushing more blood to our brain and raises our blood sugar levels. Other bodily functions that are not needed in a fight or flight situation such as our digestive system functions below normal levels to give way for the more important bodily functions for an ’emergency’ situation as our body sees it.

This bodily reaction was meant only for the body to cope with a stressful situation which means it was designed to last only for a short period of time. For example, imagine that you are in a jungle and you encounter a lion. The body then will react to prepare you either to fight or flee. Your senses sharpen and you gain temporary strength. Whichever way you choose, the stress hormones get spent and your bodily functions return to normal levels.

In our modern lifestyle, we are bombarded with stress one after another without using the effects the stress hormones has provided us. We get angry, get overworked or whatever stress we encounter and the extra energy and other manifestations the stress hormones has prepared us are not put to use and it accumulates overtime which could be detrimental to our health. It could lower our immunity system, decrease our bone density, increase body fat and many more negative effects.

How to spend the stress chemicals

One way to take those stress hormones and chemical out of your body is to exercise or physical activity which the fight or flight mode wss intended to be. At least 12 minutes of exercise that could make you sweat and breathe heavily will do. Doing that 5 times a week is very good.

Getting a regular and quality sleep can also very well help. To sleep uninterrupted for the duration that’s fit for you, 7 to 8 hours, can make your body’s healing and repair mechanisms do its job efficiently including those stress hormones that are beginning to accumulate in your body. To sleep in a comfortable bed that eliminates physical stress in your body like air mattresses can greatly help.

Remove stress stress from your body and you’ll always be in your peak performance.

Can AHA lotions rejuvinate skin and prevent cancer?
I have this co worker who’s rather old and he’s had basal cell carcinoma several times on his face and body earlier in his life. He’s cancer free now. Christmas is coming up and I’ve heard that lotions with AHA can rejuvinate skin and reduce freckles and imperfections of the skin over time. I’m wondering if such lotions can give you better skin health and reduce the chances of getting cancer? Sunblock is a must when you’re outside but is there anything to help older skin return to a healthy state? Thanks.

Just a section out of my writing, tell me your opinion. Part of a story im writing and want peoples opinion.?
I kiss Patrick goodbye as I promise to be safe and call him when I get to my hotel, for all the years I known him I just cant see anyone else as such a good friend as he is. His backstreet boy hair was always in perfect place, his eyes always loving no matter how he felt about the moment. He was always the brother I never had, he was a bit bulky, he always had that muscle but a little chubby boy was still there. He was loveable. Simple as that, the brother I never had; my lovable brother that never left my side. As I walked away I blew a kiss and told him “I love you, always! I’ll call you when I get to the hotel” Then blew him my last kiss before I turned the corner.
He blew a kiss back and waved “I love you to Katie!” and he knew then and there he had to get ready. Ready to begin his life, ready to start his life with the best friend he loved.
As I got onto the plane I called my mother, father, and sister to let them know my flight was about to take off and I’ll call them when I land. Told them each I love them and talk to them soon. They said it back; I texted Patrick to let him know I was through security and thanked him for the ride to the airport. As they shut the door, I turned my phone off, and put my seatbelt on. As I ordered a shot of tequila on the plane I started to relax my muscles, and fell asleep.
I woke up to the flight attendant announcing our landing and to make sure to keep all cell phones off till the flight has come to a complete stop. Nobody really listens, everyone got out their cell phone to make sure everyone they knew that they were ok. I was on a personal trip, I thought I would wait till after I got my baggage and got a cap would be a good time to call my mother, father, and sister back to let them know everything was ok. Next I would call Patrick.
“Hey Honey, how was it?” he said happily.
“It was ok, was asleep till we landed, did you know tequila; well one shot of tequila was five bucks? Crazy I know but worth it. I’m just not unpacking my things in the Hotel, its amazing.” I wanted to let him know every detail, that’s just how we are. I love telling him everything; but right now I was just happy to be away from everything.
“What! That is crazy, so want to call me back after you are settled in there Hun?” he said very generously.
“Yeah, that would be great. I’m just going to finish unpacking; and shower. Then go find something to eat. I love you Patrick.” I said as if I said anything else to him, my best friend. The one person I could never afford to loose.
“Alright, I love you, too. Bye.” Click.
I unpacked my things and got my purse ready, lipstick, gloss, Chap Stick, wallet, cell phone, tanning lotion, map of Miami, and a pen. I got my toiletries out and into the bathroom, along with my hair straighter. I turned it on high, and I turned the shower on and got in; letting my thoughts empty out as if the warm steaming water were washing everything away.
I got out and wrapped my hair up in the towel, a habit I picked up from my mom when I was about 13 years old. I put my cloths on; I choose a pair on lazy jeans, not too tight, but tight enough to see my curves. I also choose my yellow shirt. It shows my back, its also loose so its not sucking all the air out of my body like those models. I also choose to wear a pair of bright yellow chucks. I know I don’t really fit into the club scene but hey, at least I am getting out.
I put some make up on, mascara and some Chap Stick with a clear gloss. Then a tiny bit of blush to look natural on my ivory skin; I walked into the bathroom to finish up my look, as I straightened my hair I heard my cell phone ring. I walked to my purse digging for my cell phone. I look at the caller ID and it was my ex boyfriend Steven.
“Hey Katie, I need to ask something.” he asked.
“And that might be what?” with a hint of attitude.
“Are you still friends with Patrick?”
“Yes, that was simply the stupidest question you’ve ever asked me”
“Ok well sorry I bothered you then, I’ll talk to you later.”
    “Weirdo, bye” Click.
Steven was my first boyfriend. Our relationship is the type where you still care but they bug the living hell out of you. He always seemed jealous of Patrick for some odd reason, I mean Patrick is amazing and all but I don’t see him like that. Besides, who else would be there for me when jerks like him hurt me? The one who lets me lay on his bed when times are rough and lets me spill my guts out when he slowly rubs my leg with his hand while my feet are propped up on his lap. It’s how friendship should be, kisses on the cheek, I love you, and crazy nights spilling our guts out to each other just to feel better.
But Steven is just a weirdo to me; I giggled thinking of all the weird things he use to do. Call and say hello, then goodbye. Just wanted to hear my voice I always guessed; he also use to always use to kiss me every time I looked at him. Then he would ask me stupid questions lik

Just a little helpful advice from on aspiring writer to another. Though it may be tempting to ask for feedback on the internet, it’s never a good idea for a multiple reasons. For one thing, the public can often be very harsh. And that is magnified when you put in online. People can say horrible things, and I would hate to see you loose your passion because some jerk punched it out of you. Second, people are thieves. If you post something really good online, anyone who knows how to copy & paste may steal it. And lastly, you may loose your momentum if you ask for feedback before you are finished.
If I were you, I would at least post this on a writing website where other writer’s can help you and it might be better protected.

    winter skin care questions ?
Okay, i have eczema & dry combonation skin, i also live in winnipeg, and obviously its winter out here right now, so that doesnt help lol so i need some skin tips to keep my skin fresh, hydrated & tanned. my face routine is.. i use clean & clear 3 in 1 face wash to get rid of the oil, dirt, makeup & to keep acne under control, then i use regular brown sugar as a face srub to get rid of all the dead skin cells (& it helps get rid of extra, hard to get left over makeup) the i use hydro-cortizone cream for my eczema, then aveeno lotion or the shoppers drug mart life brand aveeno lotion (pretty much the same thing) to keep the moisture in & then chapstick for my lips. so my questions are.. does anybody have any other eczema safe winter skin solutions for the face & body ? and whats a good smelling body wash that keeps you moisturized for along time & doesnt irritate skin? and whats a good full-body self tanner that’s eczema safe as well ? [ P.S. ] – i’d like stuff that i can get at wal-mart or somewhere like that ; please & thanks : )

facebook is interesting because people use it for different reasons. i know several people who use their facebook to promote their public images as well as their business ventures. others use facebook for more personal reasons. and i think a lot of people use facebook as a sort of popularity contest to see how many friends they can collect.

i think it gets harder and harder to separate one's professional and personal life. cell phones, instant messaging, blackberries, iphones, emails, and the stress of business make it harder and harder to untangle the two.

facebook is better for personal life and linkedin is better for professional life…

here is a really good youtube video about facebook:

As far as I'm concerned I've taken care of removing the stress from my life – and I'm a happy camper. We are responsible for our own thoughts and feelings – how we chose to respond to others is more a reflection on our own character. Since we can't change the character of other people – we must focus on improving our own.

I really do care for each and every person I've met in the past year – even the one person who caused me the most grief. That's why it hurts worse.

Eliza – you're a beautiful person inside and out. Focus on what makes YOU happy .. and forget the rest.

Using SMS as a marketing tool. I think this is a brilliant idea, Scott. As one of the text generation, most of my life is on the cell phone. In this small rectangle gadget, my social relationships, daily scheduling, fun entertainment, even weather information reside. Thus, I am definitely interested in receiving text messages from companies as long as their information is useful and fun to me. Since last month, Shoesholic (online personal shopping page) has sent me text messages (about new items, discounts information that I may be interested in) on a weekly basis and I love those personalized texts. It makes me feel connected with the company. As you mentioned, it sounds quite difficult to send the right messages to individuals. Yet, SMS is a much more powerful marketing tool than e-mail in terms of accessibility.

If many inmates want to kill themselves, I don't see what is stopping them from doing it. I don't think most people want to die, even if that means spending the remainder of their life in a cell.

Also, 130 people is a pretty small number. The system isn't perfect, and a small number of mistakes is inevitable. Unfortunately in this instance that small number equates to the loss of innocent lives, but sometimes tragedies are unavoidable.

Presumably the far majority of people on death row are actually guilty. If you are twisted enough to commit a crime deemed worthy of death, I don't see why you should be kept alive.

  11. Joanne Lim says:

Hmmm, nicely said. Yes, it is up to the individual's perspective to see how he or she handles some tasks given or how they manages a situation when got caught in one. If they managed to overcome these stuff without complaints or without procrastination then perhaps there will be no such thing called stress to them.

However, we cannot deny all humans do have stress in a way or another. Research has shown that there are stress hormones in all of our bodies and little things may cause the stress juices to leak.

Thus, stress is unavoidable but if you can keep it under control it would be good!

Thank you for your speedy and thoughtful comment. I would love to know where your information on stress levels of sleeping babies was attained. Maybe reading these studies would be helpful for me, because what seems stressful to a baby is it's inability to sleep soundly. I can't wrap my brain around the image of stress hormones rising in a sleeping baby. Please elaborate if you would. Thank you so much for your willingness to calm the fears and concerns of a new mother.

Um, how about the status of women in a patriarchy?

That's one option, but there are a lot more. It's just not as clear-cut as with monkeys, because we have zillions of interlocking ways of being low- or lower-status. Honestly, probably all of them work in this scenario — but also all of them tend to have higher levels of stress hormones, which keeps things in the scientific realm.
